Vice Chancellor, Busitema University
Busitema University is one of the public universities in Uganda. It operates a multi-campus model where some critical academic units (Faculties) are situated in different campuses. Some of the current specialised campuses are located in Namasagali (Kamuli District), Arapai (Soroti District), Nagongera (Tororo District), main campus (Busia District), and Pallisa (Pallisa District). The main campus is located at Busitema in Busia District, 186 km East of the Ugandan Capital City, Kampala. The main campus sits on 1,300 acres (530 ha) of land and is situated near the famous West Bugwe Scenic Natural Forest. The University was initially established as a higher institution of learning in the form of technical aid by the then Soviet Union supporting some certificate and diploma academic programmes in agricultural sciences. It was later elevated to a university status through a Statutory Instrument of 2007, which presented an opportunity for growth and the establishment of a centre for training, research, extension and innovation in the field of management sciences among others.
Faculty Dean
Faculty of Management Science (FMS) is one of the satellite campus of the University. It is located in Pallisa District, in Bukedi sub-Region in the Eastern Region of Uganda, 200 kilometres (124.3 miles), northeast of Kampala. It sits on 25 acres in the former location of Kalaki sub-County headquaters, Pallisa District. The proximity of this Faculty to the Kenyan border offers an advantage of serving as a rich catchment area for recruitment of international students, as well as its rural setting which provides an exceptional competitive advantage to be a global centre for sustainable rural development. Since its inception, it has realised tremendous developments in various aspects such as academic programmes, infrastructure, student and staff numbers amongst others.
Faculty of Management Science (FMS) is running 9 academic programmes spread across 2 Departments: Economics and Management, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.
